Our monthly think + drink / science program transforms The Planetarium into a forum of discussion where you can grab a beer, glass of wine or a soft drink and learn about science in a relaxed, informal setting. The day’s expert gives a short presentation then opens the floor for questions and discussion.
- $5 for eligible members of the Discovery Society; $8 for all others.
- Reservations strongly encouraged.
- Seating: Seating is limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis; please arrive promptly. Pre-purchased program seats will be held until 5 minutes prior to program start time ONLY, at which time they may be released for re-sale (no refunds or exchanges will be given after the start of the program).
Sept. 11: Our Native Longleaf Pine. Eric Strickland will talk about this important Florida native tree. A graduate of Auburn University, Strickland has been practicing forestry for almost 15 years and is Resource Administrator for the Myakka River District. He is in charge of overseeing management of the Myakka and Peace River state forests and Babcock Ranch Preserve.
