Our monthly think + drink / science program transforms The Planetarium into a forum of discussion where you can grab a beer, glass of wine or a soft drink and learn about science in a relaxed, informal setting. The day’s expert gives a short presentation then opens the floor for questions and discussion.
- $5 for eligible members of the Discovery Society; $8 for all others.

Aug. 14: The Secret Lives of Black Skimmers: How Research is Helping us to Understand this Rare and Unusual Seabird. For the past 23 years, Dr. Elizabeth Forys has been a Biology and Environmental Science professor at Eckerd College in St. Petersburg interested in the conservation and recovery of any rare or declining species that need help. Her current research focuses on protection of beach nesting birds using new technologies and creative partnerships. Forys holds a BA and MS in Environmental Science from the University of Virginia and a Ph.D. in wildlife ecology and conservation from the University of Florida.
