Snooty's personality and charm gave face to the plight of wild, endangered manatees. He was also the spark that led the At The Bishop to join the Manatee Rehabilitation Partnership in 1998 and take an active role in rehabilitating sick or injured manatees so they could be returned to the wild. Snooty died in 2017, but his legacy will continue to live on at the South Florida Museum, which is redoubling its participation in the Manatee Rehabilitation Partnership (MRP) under the leadership of a new [...]

This program has provided invaluable knowledge and insights into caring for manatees and helping them return to their natural habitats. The selection of this year's theme - "elements" - reflected th [...]

After Snooty's tragic death in July, the At The Bishop made a promise to the community to examine — with the help of outside experts — whether there were failures of physical facilities, whether there were human errors and whether appropriate policies and operating procedures were in place and followed. On Aug. 31, Museum officials thanked the community for its patience while the Board of Trustees conducted this evaluation and shared the results from the report and the details of the changes the [...]

"We're reviewing what happened and will be conducting a full review of the circumstances. Snooty was such a unique animal and he had so much personality that people couldn't help but be drawn to him. As you can imagine, I -- and our staff, volunteers and boa [...]

Each year, the At The Bishop provides a vital natural science learning environment for more than 11,000 school children from 11 Florida counties as a complement to their classroom activities. But the Museum is also committed to supporting paren [...]
